Here are some questions and answers to hypnosis that you might've been wondering about.
Hypnosis is natural state of mind. It is heightened focused awareness. You've probably been in hypnosis hundreds, even thousands of times in your life. Have you ever been driving and made it to your exit without remembering a part of that drive? Watched a movie that you were so mesmerized that you couldn't hear someone right next to you talking and trying to get your attention? Those are just a couple of common examples of a light state of hypnosis. In a hypnosis session, I use tools and techniques to guide clients into this state of powerful, focused awareness that allows access to the insights and healing stored within the subconscious mind, providing fast, effective, relief for normal, everyday problems.
Hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association since 1958 and has been used in the medical community to help patients overcome chronic pain, create anesthesia, and heal psychogenic illnesses.
No. All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis, because you have to be a willing participant to be in a hypnotic state. A person can emerge themselves at any time to respond to an emergency, and if by chance you fall asleep during a hypnosis session, you are no longer in hypnosis. You cannot be hypnotized against your will.
Hypnosis is a state of mind, not a feeling. Some people will experience feeling light and floaty, others have reported feeling a sense of being rooted or grounded, others the occasional vibrating feeling, and others feel nothing at all. There is nothing right or wrong with any sensations during your session, and again, hypnosis is completely safe.
Of course! And you likely have already been in a light state of hypnosis many times in your life- while driving and not remembering a part of the journey-that's "highway hypnosis". Listening to great music, getting lost in a book, watching a movie and not hearing someone next to you trying to get your attention, or losing track of time while scrolling social media are some other examples of everyday states of hypnosis. In our sessions I'll use tools and techniques to get you into a hypnotic state on purpose and with a goal.
